Dunes south building view

LOCAL ACTIVITIES

During your stay at Dunes South, explore lighthouses and historic shipwrecks along the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Bird-watching, fishing, beach combing, and boating will fill your days. Lands of the Outer Banks are constantly shifted by wind and waves, forming the huge dunes common to the area. Because of these conditions, Jockey's Ridge State Park has become a popular spot for hang gliding. Other area attractions include the Wright Brothers National Memorial, Roanoke Island (site of the first English colony), and the Elizabethan Gardens.

Bodie Island Lighthouse

Located just south of the town of Nags Head, open year round and in the summer months visitors can climb to see the views.
